UCF
Melee contains some design choices that causes some controllers to perform better than others. This includes a one-frame dashback window and a shield drop window only three units thick - both so precise that minute differences in controller calibration make all the difference.
UCF aims to fix these discrepancies, so that any controller is on par with a "good" controller - without going beyond what is possible in vanilla Melee. |

Lag Reduction
All LCD monitors have an unavoidable amount of display lag that is not present on CRT televisions. To combat this lag, Melee's visual delays are reduced by 20.83ms to counteract the display's lag. This allows for a responsive, CRT-like experience on modern displays.
If the console is connected via HDMI, Multimod Launcher will ask to enable the lag reduction. Upon selecting yes, progressive scan (480p) will be forced and deflicker (aliasing blur) will be turned off. This will yield the sharpest image with the least amount of latency. |
